Today’s work, [The Poetics of My Room], was written based on the masterpiece The Poetics of Space by French philosopher and poet Gaston Bachelard, specifically focusing on his concept of "Intimate Space."
Bachelard viewed a house or a room not merely as a physical structure, but as a "cradle" where the intimate being of a human resides and dreams. This project visualizes the world of the self, firmly constructed within the most private and vulnerable of spaces: the bedroom.
In the video, the Muse, Luna, stays in the unprotected space of a bed and carpet, yet she never appears defenseless or asleep. Instead, she firmly treads the floor in high heels and gazes directly at the camera, creating a sense of tension. This symbolizes that the room is more than just a place of rest—it is a "psychological fortress" that protects her from external gazes and demands. Within the space of intimacy described by Bachelard, Luna exists as a sovereign ruler completing her own secret aesthetic.
The line "A house is not a building, it’s the cradle where my spirit stays" captures the Bachelardian insight into the unity of space and existence. Furthermore, the declaration "Remember this brilliant flash, my intimate universe taking flight" is the confident cry of a designer who creates a vast cosmos within the most enclosed of spaces.
A private yet grand cosmos blooming beyond a closed door. Following the gaze of Luna, who has become the only law within her own fortress and cradle, I hope you enjoy a time of pleasant contemplation as you gaze into your own intimate space where your soul truly dwells.
